I'm very excited to be visiting the Kennedale Public Library. It's located at 316 W. 3rd Street, Kennedale, Texas, 76060. Their site is at: http://www.kennedalelibrary.org/. I called and spoke with them about coming to learn about the technologies they have in place and was assured that they would be able to accommodate my visit, however, the library director, Gwen Bevill, is on vacation. I will call them back next Tuesday when she's back and set up my appointment.
I took some time to check out the city's photo stream on Flickr, which included pictures of the library and a picture of the director so I know who I'm going to be meeting! I've never been there before, but it looks like quite a nice space.
One reason I'm interested in visiting this library is because they switched their library automation system from Athena (a commercial solution) to Evergreen (an open source solution) in 2009. I'm very keen to see how that process went and what was involved, as well as how it's faring now that they've been using it for a couple of years.
There's more to come, so stay tuned.
